Class Descriptions

Creative Movement {Ages 3-5}

Children are encouraged to develop their own language of movement through structured exercises, games, observations and self-expression in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. They will learn about their bodies and minds, different qualities of movement, space and the relationship of these to one another. Music of many kinds and fun props will be used.

Kinderballet {Ages 5-6}
and Ballet 1 {Ages 6-8}

Young students begin to study the ballet vocabulary, positions and basic dance steps. They will learn about many styles of music and the great ballet classics. Enjoying working with each other, as well as using props and their imagination children explore jazz, modern and yoga techniques also. One class weekly.

Ballet 2 {Ages 7-9}

Students must have 1 year of previous ballet training. Emphasis now is on the ballet barre, proper alignment, strengthening skills and the ballet center work. Musical appreciation, performing skills, as well as role-playing, props and costumes will be explored. First year 1 class per week, second year 2 classes per week

Ballet 3A/3B {Ages 10-13}

Intermediate level for students with at least 2 years of previous ballet training. Concentration on technique, performance skills and beginner pointe. Students who wish to study pointe with us must be enrolled in at least 2 classes.

Ballet 4 {Ages 13 and up}

For students with at least 3 years of ballet training. Concentration on technique, performance skills, repertory, and pointe. Students in Ballet 4 are encouraged to take additional Ballet 3B classes on pointe as a second class.

Jazz/Lyrical

Basic Jazz technique and style (Fosse,Luigi) along with Lyrical Dance using contemporary and Broadway style music. A creative approach inclusive of ballet technique.

Pointe/Variations-Saturday

For Beginner/Intermediate students learning pointe work at the discretion of Miss Calegari. Alignment, strength and muscle support are stressed. Simple classical variations are studied on and off pointe.
